When Solitaire is not the only game in town....
There are more of us than you may realize
People often ask me if “Solitaire Miles” is my real name.
YES. It’s on my birth certificate. My parents were 19 when I was born, they were hippies, and thought: “Why not name the kid something no one else will ever have?” to quote my father "Nobody else will ever have that name, it's all yours" They spelled it like the card game (thanks, Mom and Dad), but it actually comes from the French “Solotare.” Very unique… until 1973.
The Bond Film "Live and Let Die" premiered with Jane Seymour playing the Bond girl “Solitaire”. She obviously made an impression because suddenly the world was full of little Solitaires. (Thanks, James Bond.) I’ve since met dozens of them - mostly women my age, and once in a while even a man. So much for “one of a kind", sorry Mom and Dad!
I just wanted to mention that I am Solitaire Miles, recording artist and music producer, and I do not perform very often - but there are other Solitaire's in Chicago where I live who do perform live and I don't want friends or fans to be disappointed or misled if they see another Solitaire’s name on a marquee. The other Solitaire's are talented and wonderful, but they’re not me. Don’t accidentally show up at their gig thinking you’ll hear a Polish tango or Western Swing, LOL!
And if you are wanting to see me perform, I am really sorry but I can't go on stage at this time, I am just behind the microphone or playing on your local radio because I was hit by a car while crossing the street a few years ago and sustained some spine injuries. So until my surgeries are behind me, (literally), I’m focusing on recording and producing — so you’ll find me on the airwaves, not on the stage, at least for now.
Thank you for wanting to see me perform live, I hope to be doing it in the future, thank you so much for your understanding, and for not confusing me with James Bond’s girlfriend.
